How JEM Wellness Began.

JEM Wellness began as JEM Massage in 2018. At this time Jo was working part time for another business as a Social Worker, and she needed to supplement her income with her Massage Therapy services which she had recently completed her studies for.

Jo originally started massaging from the local Physio one day per week and then at the local hairdresser after this. Jo travelled to and from Mount Gambier to make this happen, however Jo’s program funding ran out for her social work role and she took up a new position in Murray Bridge and relocated to Keith and travelled from here. Jo opened up her massage business at 5 Dugan Street, and worked from there for roughly 12 months, before purchasing the property across the road, 30 Hender Street, which is where the business is now situated.

Initially it was just Jo working from the shop providing both Massage Therapy and Social Work Services, however it was very much her massage services which were keeping her busy.

In 2021 Jo welcomed her first employee, Olivia, who was nearly finished her Diploma of Remedial Massage and she worked for Jo for roughly 2 years,. After this time Jo was on her own for a short while again before employing Ailie and Emilee as a support workers, Michelle as a trainee Remedial Massage Therapist and Sam as a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker all in 2024. What was once a one woman show, was now a very busy shop, especially on Tuesday afternoons!

Slowly over time Jo increased her social work services and today the business provides nearly 50/50 split of both massage therapy and social work therapy.
